ANNUAL DAY REPORT – 2023-24

  • We started this year with the announcement of the results of our 1st batch of grade 10. It was indeed, a proud moment for Sanskara School.
  • School reopened on 15th May for our teachers and they started their prep for the new AY with in-house training programs and team-building exercises.
  • This was followed by the announcement of our School’s Higher Secondary affiliation to CBSE.
  • On June 1st, School reopened for us students, and boy! Were we excited to be back! Seeing our friends and teachers after a long break!
  • On June 5th, we celebrated World Environment Day. Our Deputy Managing Director, Mr George M George along with Dr Jacob T Verghese, the Executive Chairman of STEAG Energy Services were present for the occasion.
  • Our theme for this year - SUSTAINABLE SANSKARA thus began! We started this initiative thanks to our Principal, Dr Swaminathan Krishna who is a big driving force behind this. We started with the planting of tree saplings by our Managing Director, Mr. George Alexander Muthoot and our Executive Director, Mr. Eapen Alexander followed by our Deputy Managing Director, Mr. George M George. Saplings were planted by all the guests who visited our school and even our teachers did the honours of planting saplings as well. We students have also taken the initiative to start an organic garden as a part of our nature club activity. This is taken care of by us and look at that produce!   Apart from all this, our Sustainable Sanskara leaders, have taken the lead to start a Miyawaki Forest, a small 5cent forest in our very own backyard. Just wait and watch, you will see a Greener Sanskara in the coming years.
  • Coming to our infrastructure, maintaining the theme of Sustainability, we are proud to announce that we are completely self-sufficient as we are equipped with Solar Power. We also have our Water Treatment Plant, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Rainwater harvesting, Compost pit as well as an Incinerator. Our Sustainable Sanskara team even went to the Kuttikallude Haritha Sabha and attended an interactive seminar on effective waste management techniques.
  • This year we tied up with our local law enforcement and started a Student Protection Group Committee. We have had meetings with them and we have been promised to be looked after by them. Sub Inspector Babu Johns also came and spoke to us about the Effects of Toxic Relationships and Screen Addiction.
  • Next, we had our school council elections, where all the nominees had to speak and campaign and impress all the voters of the school. The leaders were elected democratically and were given responsibilities to shoulder. The Investiture ceremony that followed was a solemn event with proud parents who attended the function. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr Sushant Kurunthil, the CEO of Infopark and Mr Biju P Chacko, DGM - HR, Muthoot Group was also present at the event.
  • Young India Thalir aka YI Thalir, is a collaborative initiative which was undertaken by our school to empower us students to become confident, responsible and forward-thinking individuals through a variety of programs including mentorship sessions and skill-building workshops. 7 students from our school participated in the YI Inspire Summit on Nov 24th, 2023
  • Then we also started Bhaavika – a student enrichment program which was initiated by Mr. Jiji Thompson, IAS. He had a session with our senior school students to empower them to excel academically and to thrive in their future pursuits.
  • The school has been Awarded by the international technology service provider at the Eldrok India K-1 Summit for excellence in the field of Robotics, STEM, AI, ML & the tech-enabled smart classroom initiative the school has been promoting. A selected 27 students from Primary and Middle school have been trained for the international Robotics competition organized by Evolve Robotics. 
  • In connection with Doctor’s Day, our parent, Dr. Gayathri K, a dentist, spoke to our kindergarten and primary school children on Oral Health and also conducted a dental camp in association with the IDA for them. Similarly, a team from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in association with ICMR led by Dr Hindol also conducted a session and a dental camp for our senior students.
  • WE TALK – again, a new initiative started in our school, with the idea of you parents imparting your knowledge, skills and expertise with us. We’d like to thank all these parents who took the time off their busy schedules to come and speak to us.
  • Newsletter is also a new student-driven initiative taken this year to keep you all in touch with what’s happening here at Sanskara School. 
  • AMARE – our very own Community Outreach Club. They have worked very hard to raise funds and they use these funds to help the needy outside of our school. A big shout-out to the AMARE team!
  • We celebrated the birthday of the great PN Panicker as Reading Day on June 19th where Nitha Ma’am, our librarian, initiated the Reading Challenge as well as the Budding Authors initiative. Many of us are now reading champions, marvels and stars
  • Now we move on to the many celebrations that we had this year. We started with Yoga Day where Mr. Gangadharan took a masterclass for the entire school and Music Day where the amazing violinist Mr. Sabareesh Prabhakar, who has worked with A R Rahman, performed for us.
  • Then we celebrated our 77th Independence Day. Mr. Rahul R, the IRS officer was our chief guest for that day.
  • This was followed by Onam, which was celebrated in all its glory with which we finished with ‘Vaddamvalli’ and payasam.
  • Our primary children showcased an amazing play on Gandhi Jayanthi and even did a march outside of our school.
  • On Teacher’s Day, we got to put on a show for our beloved teachers and gave them some time off with some games organised by us.
  • While, on Children’s Day, our teachers put on a show for us! They danced, sang and even walked the ramp for us! It was a bagless day for us kids and we had a carnival-like day organised by our teachers.
  • We primary children enjoyed Navaratri celebrations as we did a Dhandiya dance and conveyed the story of the victory of Goddess Durga through a skit.
  • We also celebrated Diwali where students of Grades 3&4 put up a show again with a skit and dance. A beautiful rangoli was also put up by our art teacher!
  • We also celebrated Kerala Piravi in style. It started with a CHENDA MELAM and a program where we learnt all about the origin of Kerala and our Malayalam language through a performance organised by our Malayalam department.
  • Christmas was also celebrated with full pomp and glory. There was a program organised by us and also, and our AMARE team went to an old age home and donated items needed by them which were bought by the AMARE Club with the money they made from all the food stalls they put up during events held in our school.
  • Now we move on to the intra-school and inter-school events hosted by Sanskara School. We kick-started this year’s Inter house competitions with the Intra School Rubik's Cube Tournament.
  • Followed by the 3-day Mega inter-house cultural fest – Sanskriti. What a load of fun that was! Our very own In-house celebrity Mr. Rahul Raj, a popular Music Director in the Malayalam film industry as well as Mr. Babu John Malayil, the head of Corporate Communications were the Chief guests for the event.
  • Apart from all this, Sanskara School conducted Twinkle Toes – bonded by fashion – a fashion show event we conducted for our contemporaries in Infopark where little children along with their parents walked the ramp and lit the stage on fire making it a memorable night for all those who were present. This was followed by a DJ night!
  • Then we kick-started our first inter-school competitions with Kick & Dunk – an inter-school Basketball and football tournament where we had over 45 teams from in and around Cochin participate in the event. CV Sunny, a former Indian Basketball Team Captain was the chief guest for the event.
  • Another mega inter-school event that we had was the All Kerala CBSE Inter-School Aquatic Challenge. Over 200 students participated from far and wide and made this an event to remember!
  • This was followed by our Annual Sports Day where the rush of adrenalin was high and everyone was at their sports best! Ms. Ancy Sojen E, the Asian Games Silver Medalist for Long Jump was the Chief Guest for that day. We ended on a high with Dharani House taking the lead followed by Vaayu House!
  • Then how can we forget our General Exhibition - EXPLORICA! It was almost like a mini Kochi Biennale with science projects and art exhibitions galore! I’m sure all your parents were equally impressed as we were. Our Deputy Managing Director, Mr George M George also graced the event. We hope you enjoyed it, Sir!
  • Our final event or rather the penultimate event, taking the Annual Day into account, for this academic year was SPECTRUM – the inter-school Art & Cultural fest. We hosted over 200 students from different schools in Kochi participating in the event. I can’t help it, but I have to say it – we had a lot of events this year and it all felt like mini-festsAlso, a special thanks to the Amare Food Stalls which was a treat for us all!
  • Let us also not forget about our field trips, picnics and excursions! The experiential learning we did and the fun we had will never go out of tune
